We hired ProAce to move from a townhouse to a house 12 miles away. They gave the job to subcontractors who are full-time academics and do moving on the side to make extra cash. The problem was, they were bad at moving. Not only was it physically difficult for them to move heavy items, they also didn't know much about moving in general. The way they packed up the contents of our home was amateurish. Soft, non-breakable items – such as a foam mattress – were wrapped in six layers of bubble wrap and duct tape. They were also extremely slow. They had budgeted one day for packing and one day for moving. At the end of the first day they had only packed up half of our things. At one point it started raining, and instead of continuing to work, they just hung around the garage waiting for the rain to end. In addition, their truck was really small, meaning they needed to make 3 trips to empty a townhouse instead of being able to do it in one. Because this obviously took more time, we ended up paying the price. Also, although the trip between the two houses took us 30 minutes, somehow each trip took them 70 minutes. In the end, the entire move took 3 full days. By the evening of the 3rd day, we were so desperate to have them complete the job that we had them drop items in the garage for us to move inside and assemble ourselves – which meant WE did a large chunk of the work we were paying them for. We later discovered that many of the boxes had funny sayings scrawled on them. It was offensive to learn that they had wasted our time amusing themselves. Further, they were adamant that they could not fit our treadmill down our basement stairs. The very next morning, we did it ourselves. They did unnecessary things such as dismantling furniture that could have been moved whole. They removed the banister at our townhouse in order to get the bedroom furniture downstairs (even though the original movers who moved the furniture UPSTAIRS managed to do it just fine with the banister in place) and created a gaping hole that we then had to spend time and money repairing. There’s more. They left a leg of our patio table in their truck, rendering the table useless, and didn’t return it until a week later. They broke our TV stand (but to their credit, they did order a new one.) They lost the railing of a dresser drawer, rendering the entire dresser useless. When told about this, the owner told us that “replacement parts are probably available online.” Why is that our responsibility? When the move was finally over at 2 AM on Day 3, they forgot to return our house key and had to be texted to return in the middle of the night. Later, we found out they had left several items in our townhouse. At the end of it all, the charge was 300% of the original estimate. That meant that a 12-mile move cost us more than our last INTERSTATE move, with the same amount of belongings. When we questioned them, we got nothing but blame and excuses. Excuse #1: It was apparently our fault for underestimating how much we owned. (This despite the fact that we filled out a detailed online survey of our belongings. If 5 pages of questions could result in an estimate that was so drastically off-target, there is something wrong with the survey. Additionally, we, unlike many other people, actually know how much our belongings weigh because our last move was a military move, which requires having your moving truck weighed at a station.) Excuse #2: It was apparently our fault because we owned a lot of things. This is ridiculous. The CEO, Dan, never set foot in our house, and just believed everything the subcontractors were telling him. They TOLD him we had a lot of stuff in order to excuse their slow work, but it wasn’t true. Excuse #3: It was apparently our fault because our belongings were really heavy. That is absurd. We own exactly one bedroom set. The rest of our furniture is cheap and limited. Excuse #4: They charge more because they’re really careful. Really? Because they damaged more items than our last, cheaper, interstate movers did. Dan complained that despite our huge bill, he made almost no money. First of all, that’s not our problem. Secondly, if he's unhappy AND we're unhappy, something's seriously wrong with his business plan. In addition, although we spent $650 on boxes prior to the move at their request, we were charged an additional $500 for moving supplies. The reams of bubble wrap the movers wasted on toilet paper rolls got charged to us. In all, we were left infuriated at our treatment by this company and the subcontractors they used. To us, it feels like they committed fraud – they deliberately wasted time and material to drive up our cost, and they didn’t care at all about making the customer happy. This is money we don’t have and food out of our children’s mouths. We wonder if they’re writing fake positive online reviews about themselves. We have no choice but to make sure we spread the word far and wide to never, ever use ProAce Movers.
I moved from Virginia to Maryland and I wanted a company that's honest and upfront. I chose ProAce since an old neighbor recommended them. And it's locally owned as well. I was able to pick up the phone and ask Dan as many questions as I needed answered. He was quick, responsive and that's what I need in my busy schedule. The price was fair as well. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend them. In the past, I chose one of the big companies and so many things got damaged. Never again.
I would like to thank ProAce Moving and Storage for a great job performed last week. I just got settled in and finally am able to write a review. They showed up on time and did an amazing job. They packed up the whole apartment and did it quickly. I am really impressed on how quick they performed the job even though my condo was located on the 4th floor with no elevator. They got here earlier than estimated and completed the job exactly as per the estimated time on my quote. Thanks again for a great job and would refer ProAce Moving to everyone I know. Thanks Again John S.
Please, know that because of my business, I move an entire household at least every year to two years. With that in mind, my comments are based on experience with many different movers. This particular move using Proace was not a household move, but was a very dicey move of my belongings from my ex-husband's home in Virginia to my own in Texas. Because of the many emotional variables this move was stressful and full of potential pitfalls. I won't go into those variables except to say that I was perfectly honest with my salesman, Dan, as to what might or might not happen during the move. He was wonderful! Dan helped me plan for every inevitability. He dealt with me kindly and tactfully. His moving people were very sensitive to the situation and were all gracious and kind. The move was done in lightning speed -- painlessly and without a missed beat. All my belongings arrived in Texas in perfect condition. Whew, thank goodness this story ended well in large part to Dan and ProAce Moving ! Thank you so much!
ProAce International Moving and Storage is without a doubt the BEST moving company I have EVER worked with. I have moved 10 times- whether it be from one city to another, or across state lines, and have hired several different movers, and I am happy to say that ProAce International Moving and Storage is by far the most professional, most efficient, and most experienced moving company I have ever hired for a move. The movers were beyond impressive- they not only showed up 30 minutes early, but moved my furniture, personals, and valuables expeditiously-as well as with caution and care. They were courteous, extremely personable, and incredibly thorough. Customer service at ProAce International is outstanding. After requesting a quote, I was provided with a timely response via email- as well as a follow up telephone confirmation call- which made the preparation of my move not only corodinated and organized- but well communicated. ProAce took control, did everything I needed, and made the process as effortless as possible. Additionally, the cost of the move was not only reasonable, but affordable...No hidden fees, no hidden "overtime" work to get the job done, no d elay whatseoever with the completion of the move. I highly recommend ProAce International, and I will NEVER use another company for my next move- whether it be within the same building, across the country, or outside of the US. ProAce International is the BEST in the business..
I can't thank enough ProAce Moving and Storage for providing me with amazing service during this stressful time. I had to be in texas in less then a week and they were able to promise me with the timeline desired. The greatest thing is they prioritized my move even though i booked at last minute. Thanks so much for your attention to my request. Also, the packing was included. I provided all the supplies but they packed everything. They also arrived in 5 days, as promised. The overal experience was great and I will recommend to everyone. Thanks again.
I called ProAce Moving because of all the great reviews. They came over for onsite estimate and provided me with a quote. They picked everything up 7 days later and delivered within my estimated time. Thanks so much ProAce for your help. Will recommend you Jim
I had other movers to come and help me unload but they never showed up. Scrambling for last minute movers, i came across ProAce and called them that same morning for unloading my container. They showed up one hour later and completed the job in 3 hours. Thanks ProAce for helping me in such short notice.
We used proace as a vendor for our customer. We found them through a database of accredited businesses and were satisfied with their services. Our customer were very happy and didn't stop praising their services. We thank you proace for helping us on such short notice. We will send you more customers for all our relocation needs.
I found ProAce through the BBB and they were highly rated there. I contacted them and they were in constant contact with us throughout the move preparation process. We ended up getting moved by a military contractor (I am in the Army), so we did not actually use ProAce. ProAce insisted on a visual evaluation of our belongings before giving us a price, unlike other movers who gave us quotes based solely on the weight to be moved. I am confident they would have done a good job for us.
