Our household furniture and other items were delivered to Coleman American Moving Services facility in Birmingham, Alabama for storage for 3 weeks prior to our residence being ready. We have $36,000.00 damage to out household goods which they have offered $1340.00 for. They lost an office unit which they can't locate. The damage was so significant that I demanded the unloading stop and the local operations manager come to my residence. He responded....now we learned his employment was terminated 2 weeks later. Save yourself the grief. Hire a professional company who will respect your property.
Wish I could give them 1 star! Charged over $10,000 to move us from Olathe to Montana. We were promised a stress-free move if we bought the best insurance ($2300) so we would have no worries. The load was supposed to leave Olathe 12/26 and arrive in Montana 12/29. We loaded the dog and family in the car and made the drive. Our new beautiful 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house remained empty until the furniture was finally delivered on 1/8. 10 days late...every day we reached out to the moving manager, dispatcher and customer service hotline for updates. 2 out of the 3 lied every day IF our call was even responded to. We were told everything from the furniture would be delivered the next day (6 days we were told this), the furniture had been given to a 3rd party vendor and they were unable to locate it, the truck broke down and our furniture was someplace along the route, it was in the warehouse and they could not find a driver to go to Montana, the driver never came back from Louisiana and it was being sent by rail car since Great Falls was so hard to get to. We were warned the driveway must be shoveled and we must be home for the delivery or WE would be violating the terms of the contract and they would not deliver until we covered THEIR damages. We were told most of the workers give the company "line" to take off the liability from the company. Customer service (we have names and dates) told us since the delivery of our furniture was indefinitely delayed, we would be reimbursed for lodging, food and required incidentals. We filed the claim as we were told, and 80% of it was denied. They refuse to pay for food as we submitted itemized food receipts from the grocery. They will only pay if we submitted itemized receipts from restaurants. We were not going to take the whole family to a restaurant for 3 meals a day. It was a scam...they would have found a way to reject those too. Then they say they never authorized incidentals. Laundry, dry cleaning, and shoes were all we requested. We were starting a new job, middle school and my husband who drives OTR could not take any jobs as he had to be home since they kept promising the delivery for the next day (again....it was a 10 day delay). The entire amount of the reimbursement for a 10 day delay was $2400. We also requested an adjusted bill due to the deceitful sales practices and poor service. We were told by Samantha in claims that their policy is they only have to deliver items from A to B....and they did their job. We were entitled to nothing more, per policy. We learned one more thing....an A+ with the Better Business Bureau only means the company responded to the complaint, not remediated the issue to the clients satisfaction. Coleman Allied's parent company also owns North American Van Lines and the insurance company used to pay (or not pay) the claims. The final delivery was also a circus. The boxes were not put in the rooms indicated on the box, and so many boxes were put in wrong rooms they could not even get the beds in...and this was moving a 3 bedroom house to a 5 bedroom house. They did not even put the doors on the fridge as they said they did not know how, and someone would be here the next day to do the assembly. That was 17 days ago...we have heard nothing and have not had our calls returned. We will happily pay a professional to take care of this, as we want this ordeal with Coleman/Allied to be over. I just want others to not have to deal with this horrible company. It certainly ruined our holidays, and created significant issues since we had family here to help unpack the 29th...and with a broken shoulder.....impossible to do myself.
The salesperson spent 2 hours at my home convincing me that he was 90% plus accurate on his estimates. I painstakingly got manufacture weight, weighed it and had measurements of my items. He told me that he did not believe I would even meet the minimum weight with not many items, my best bet was to just go with a weigh instead of an all in flat fee. My items were moved from Seattle to Austin. Certain items did not show up, the mover acknowledged some misses and promised to get them delivered to me. I reported a few items damaged, they promised the claims department would call me. Then, I started getting extra charges on my credit card. I called them requested a meeting with their corporate headquarters, they confirmed a date and time - the call not only never happened, the original moving coordinator would not take my calls. Right after, I started getting Certified Letters from corporate demanding more money, additional charges. They are trying to charge me to move an entire household, I only had 1/3 of a small UHaul van (yes thats what the locals picked it up in). To date, no one from local or corporate will discuss the situation. I acknowledged via my VM & emails that I would report them to the Attorney Generals Office, I got another Certified Demand Letter. The business practices at this company are not fair or reasonable. As a business woman that negotiates contracts for a living with small & large business with attorneys all over the world. I found this company follows deceptive & unfair business practices. Buyers Beware!
